16 Arhats Puja & 3,000 Candle Lighting Ceremony

1 August 2019 - 5:58am Comments Off

There are four major Tibetan Buddhist holidays, each commemorating one of the four great deeds of the Buddha. One of these is Chokhor Duchen or the Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma, which marks the occasion of Buddha’s first sermon and his teaching of the Four Noble Truths.

In Tibet, Chokhor Duchen is traditionally a day of pilgrimage where Buddhists visit holy sites to make offerings and prayers. It is also one of the “merit-multiplying” Buddhist holy days where merits from any virtuous deed performed on this day are multiplied 100,000 times.

This year, celebrate Chokhor Duchen on Sunday 4th August with a pilgrimage to Kechara Forest Retreat and join us from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm for an auspicious Sixteen Arhats Puja performed by the monks of Gaden Monastery and a 3,000 Candle Lighting Ceremony.

By participating in the Sixteen Arhats Puja, you’ll enjoy a long life, avoid untimely death, and quickly generate merits to fuel your spiritual development. You can also dedicate this puja to the long life of your spiritual teacher and for the growth of his (or her) activities.

And when you make offerings of light to the Buddhas, you’ll receive powerful blessings in many aspects of your life such as wisdom, good health and wealth. Just imagine how much positive energy you’ll generate when you’re part of a grand 3,000 Candle Lighting Ceremony!
