Make 100,000x merits on Buddha’s birthday
Wesak is the most important day of the year for Buddhists everywhere. It’s so significant because this day commemorates three momentous events in Buddha’s life — his birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.
In the Tibetan tradition, Wesak is synonymous with the 4th lunar month of Saga Dawa. Tibetan Buddhists believe that merits are multiplied in general throughout the month, and on the 15th day known as Saga Dawa Düchen or Wesak, the merits of our actions are hugely increased by 100,000 times!
That’s why Saga Dawa is also known as the Month of Merits, and it is a time when Tibetan Buddhists make extra efforts to practice more generosity, virtue, compassion, better temperament, and conduct, in order to accumulate greater merit. So join us on Wesak for a full day of virtuous deeds and make 100,000x merits with the whole family.

Take the Eight Precepts for Wesak
Our pastors will be giving the Eight Mahayana Precepts vows the night before Wesak. All Buddhists are encouraged to take these vows and observe these precepts for a 24-hour period on Buddhist holidays to collect a tremendous amount of merits.
Eight Precepts Ceremony

The 8 Precepts are to abstain from:
- Killing, whether directly or indirectly
- Stealing and taking what is not given
- Sexual activity
- Lying and deceptive speech
- Using intoxicants
- Eating after noon
- Dancing, singing, playing music, and wearing cosmetics, perfume, and jewellery
- Using luxurious beds and seats with pride

Wesak offerings and dedication of merits will be performed on your behalf during the Wesak Festival at Kechara Forest Retreat.
Saga Dawa pujas will be performed on your behalf by June 6 (Thu), the last day of the Month of Merits.
