Lama Tsongkhapa is the 14th century Buddhist great scholar and saint who founded the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Renowned as the 2nd Buddha of our fortunate time, Lama Tsongkhapa performed many great deeds; among them are the building of Gaden Monastery and writing the Lamrim Chenmo – ‘The Great Exposition of the Stages of the Path’.

Lama Tsongkhapa Day commemorates Lama Tsongkhapa’s attainment of enlightenment. It is also known as the Butter Lamp Festival and falls on 25th of the 10th Tibetan month. Performing prayers together on this significant day enhances one’s merit and strengthens the quality of one’s practice.
