Make 100,000x merits on Buddha’s birthday
Wesak is the most important day of the year for Buddhists everywhere. It’s so significant because this day commemorates three momentous events in Buddha’s life — his birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.
In the Tibetan tradition, Wesak is akin to the holy day of Saga Dawa Duchen. Tibetan Buddhists believe that on this day, the merits of our actions are hugely increased by 100,000 times!
That’s why Wesak is a time for us to make extra efforts to practice more generosity, virtue, compassion, better temperament, and conduct, in order to accumulate greater merits.
So join us on Wesak for a full day of virtuous deeds and make 100,000x merits with the whole family.

Take the Eight Precepts for Wesak
Our pastors will be giving the Eight Mahayana Precepts vows the night before Wesak. All Buddhists are encouraged to take these vows and observe these precepts for a 24-hour period on Buddhist holidays to collect a tremendous amount of merits.
Eight Precepts Ceremony

The 8 Precepts are to abstain from:
- Killing, whether directly or indirectly
- Stealing and taking what is not given
- Sexual activity
- Lying and deceptive speech
- Using intoxicants
- Eating after noon
- Dancing, singing, playing music, and wearing cosmetics, perfume, and jewellery
- Using luxurious beds and seats with pride

Wesak Offerings
Dedicate special prayers and oceans of merits with our Wesak offering bundles. Most packages include a combination of Wesak prayers and offerings (done on Wesak Day), and Saga Dawa pujas (done during Saga Dawa month). Our sangha and pastors will make prayers and offerings on your behalf, and dedicate the merits according to your wishes. All proceeds support the maintenance of the temple.

Wesak prayers, offerings and dedication of merits will be performed on your behalf during the Wesak Festival at Kechara Forest Retreat.
Saga Dawa pujas will be performed on your behalf by June 25, 2025 (Wed), the last day of the Month of Merits.
If you’re a Kechara Member or Kechara Friend, you can collect Reward Points for your Wesak offerings.
