Congratulations to our second batch of novices

We are pleased to announce and offer our congratulations to the second batch of Kecharian sangha!

On Sept 11 and 12, five more Kecharians were ordained as novice monks and nuns by the chantmaster emeritus of Shar Gaden Monastery, Ven. Gen Usula Lobsang Thupten Jinpa.

In accordance with tradition, our novices also received ordination names to mark the beginning of their lives as ordained sangha. Their new names include a part of Gen Usula’s name, to reflect the lineage from which they received their vows, and are now the manner by which they should be addressed:

Pastor Chia Song Peng
  • Ordination name: Thupten Lamsang
  • How to address: Gen Thupten Lamsang or Gen Lamsang
Pastor Lim Tat Ming
  • Ordination name: Thupten Wangchen
  • How to address: Gen Thupten Wangchen or Gen Wangchen
Pastor Adeline Woon
  • Ordination name: Thupten Yangchen
  • How to address: Ani Thupten Yangchen or Ani Yangchen
Pastor Antoinette Kass
  • Ordination name: Thupten Chödron
  • How to address: Ani Thupten Chödron or Ani Chödron
Choi Kim Yok
  • Ordination name: Thupten Wangmo
  • How to address: Ani Thupten Wangmo or Ani Wangmo

This ordination brings us yet another step closer towards fulfilling our guru H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s wish to have local sangha and establish a monastic institution that is entirely Malaysia-grown. These five new Kecharian sangha show us yet again what is possible when one commits to the spiritual path, and that ordination is possible for everyone.

Do join us in rejoicing and offering congratulatory wishes to them! May they inspire others to tread in their path so that the Sangha community continues to grow by leaps and bounds, carried by the waves of merit generated by these pioneering men and women.
