Malacca

The Malacca Study Group started in February 2009 based in a private home with just five members. The activities then consisted only of a monthly Dharma talk with topics ranging from prostrations to pujas.

In November 2009, the group moved to its new premises in Batu Berendam, on the second floor of a small office building.

The group now has various activities that draw up to 30 people. These include:

  • Monthly animal liberation
  • Weekly Setrap pujas (alternate Chinese and English)
  • Fortnightly Dharma classes

The Malacca Study Group has the heart and mind to spread the Dharma under the inspiration of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. With this motivation, in their premises, they have set-up an audience room for His Eminence, complete with His Eminence’s throne and private quarters, as an indication of their devotion to the Spiritual Advisor of Kechara House.

Future plans of the Malacca Study Group include feeding the homeless of their home state, as well as engaging in recycling activities. The Study Group also hopes to play a more active role in special retreats held at the mother centre in Kuala Lumpur, for example those which invoke the blessings of Setrap or the Lamrim.

Thierry Janssens makes regular trips to Malacca from Kuala Lumpur to conduct talks and classes. Adeline Tan, a long-time student of His Eminence, has put as her main focus the growth of the Malacca Study Group.
