Super Lama Meets Supermodel

After the premier of Legend of the Conch Shell, there came a special request from one of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s most devoted students, the ever enthusiastic fashion designer, Eric Choong. Eric had a special long-term friend attending the play with him who wanted to meet Rinpoche…and who should come striding in to the audience room but Ling Tan, the famous international supermodel! A model on the books of agencies such as Elite Models, Ling Tan has sauntered down the catwalk with some of the best names in the business…and here she was with her family, including her model sister Ein, requesting for an audience with Rinpoche who agreed to meet them.

There were smiles all around as the beautiful Ling and her family left the audience room clutching gifts from our ever gracious Rinpoche. These included a Lama Tsongkhapa statue, a stunning Vajrayogini coffee table book, (the product of a collaboration between Kechara Media & Publications and Kechara Discovery) and a Setrap boxset.

Earlier, at the end of the play, Rinpoche said that as a Buddhist monk, it was his job to teach Buddhism. However, he had a higher job as a monk, which was to encourage everyone to find, remain and develop in their religion. Thus it is our hope that Ling’s brief encounter with Rinpoche sets her on a spiritual path that will lead her to much happiness…and if the path happens to be Buddhism, then so be it!

Ling is certainly an animal lover. With her fee from this Cittabella magazine feature, Ling rescued this dog from the SPCA!
