The Kechara House Executive Committee is elected by majority vote during Kechara House’s Annual General Meeting, held every two years.

Those on the committee are fully dedicated to spreading the Dharma and H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings to many. Their presence on this committee is an indication of the support they have garnered from Kechara members through the work they have done in helping Kechara to grow.

We are proud to introduce the 2014-2015 Kechara House Executive Committee. May your positions assist your Dharma work to spread Je Tsongkhapa’s traditions in the three times and ten directions!

Meet the 2014-2015 Committee

Datuk May Phng

A successful and diverse businesswoman who owns the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf franchise in Shanghai and is a key influence in the Malaysian rubber industry, Datuk May Phng is happily married with four adult children and eight grandchildren.

She met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in 2007 and since then, she embarked on her spiritual career with as much commitment and gusto as she has with her secular career. Her portfolio in Kechara includes:

Ng Kok Heng

Ng Kok Heng (fondly known as KH Ng), describes himself as a family man and a keen sportsperson who is currently Vice-President of the Selangor Swimming Association. However, despite his varied interests, KH always comes back to Dharma and since joining Kechara as a member, has focused his reading mostly on Buddhist texts.

With a special interest in the topic of wisdom, KH finds the talks given by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche to be interesting and intellectually-stimulating. Although not a full time staff in Kechara, KH Ng’s dedication to Dharma has gained him the trust of Kechara’s members, and was voted as the Vice President of Kechara House for 2014 – 2015.

Chuah Su Ming

Before joining the Dharma, Su Ming held a high profile job and was living the high life. Although she met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in 1992, it was not until 2007 when she began to be attracted to Dharma. As she began volunteering actively in Kechara, the appeal of her luxurious lifestyle began to fade. Eventually, Su Ming accepted an offer to work full time in Kechara and joined the Ladrang team at the end of 2007. Her portfolio in Kechara includes:

Paul Yap

Paul is a professional accountant who was a senior finance manager in the manufacturing industry. He is one of the pioneers in Malaysia to work full time in Dharma and has successfully applied his accounting experience to contribute to the growth of Kechara. As one of Kechara’s key personnel, Paul’s portfolio in Kechara includes:

Pastor Kok Yek Yee

Pastor Kok Yek Yee was a journalist, writing for Guang Ming Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau, an established national newspaper, as a features writer. Inspired by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche‘s Dharma teachings, Pastor Yek Yee left her circular job and began utilizing her writing skills for Dharma in Kechara Media & Publications. She published her first book, Protector Setrap in 2007.

Ever since then, Pastor Yek Yee has worked tirelessly for the Dharma, translating Rinpoche’s teachings into Chinese for a wider audience. She also shoulders a huge responsibility for the welfare of the public and is well known in the local Buddhist community as a truly selfless Pastor, who is always there in times of need. Her portfolio in Kechara includes:

Pastor Chia Song Peng

One of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche‘s most senior students, Pastor Chia is wholeheartedly dedicated to the Dharma. Prior to connecting with Rinpoche, Pastor Chia did not know where his life was going, from dropping out of an engineering course in Singapore, to working as a factory production assistant, to becoming a Chinese restaurant chef.

One day he met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in Singapore and his life took a U–turn towards the Dharma path. Pastor Chia has since found new meaning to life through Kechara and Dharma, and now holds a core role within the Kechara retail outlets as well as serving the public as a Kechara Pastor. His portfolio in Kechara includes:

Pastor Ong Moh Mei

Pastor Moh Mei met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in early 2013. Realizing that Dharma held the answers to many of her questions in life, Pastor Moh Mei resigned from her high profile job in a telco company in Singapore to embark on her spiritual journey with Kechara.

Ever since joining Kechara, Pastor Moh Mei has been closely involved in the construction of the Kechara Forest Retreat in Bentong. As an aspiring nun, Pastor Moh Mei dedicates her life fully to the Dharma to benefit all sentient beings. Her portfolio in Kechara includes:

Han Siew Fong

A graduate in Journalism, Han Siew Fong was a successful television producer prior joining the Dharma full time. Deeply moved by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche when she attended her first Dharma teaching in 2006, Han became inspired to produce high quality Dharma videos under Rinpoche’s guidance. Her professional skills are a great asset in spreading the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa. Her portfolio in Kechara includes:

Ooi Beng Kooi

An engineer by profession, Ooi Beng Kooi was living her dream of researching cutting-edge technologies in the automobile industry. After meeting H.E Tsem Rinpoche in March 2007, Beng Kooi left her job in London and accepted a job offer in Malaysia to be closer with Rinpoche.

Beng Kooi started her Dharma journey by volunteering in Kechara after her day job. Eventually, she left her samsaric job and joined as a full time staff in the Ladrang in January 2008. Beng Kooi’s portfolio in Kechara includes:
