Kechara Forest Retreat welcomed another group of 27 visitors on 1 June, organised by Leonard Chia of Kechara’s Kuantan Study Group. The group, consisting of 19 adults and 8 children, are members of the Rotary Club of Indera Mahkota. They are no strangers to voluntary work in the East Coast.

The group began the tour by offering khatas at His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s first cabin. This cabin is very sacred as it represents a living legacy of the inspiration and work done by His Eminence during the early days of KFR.

The tour continued with the Aviary and the Herb Garden. The carefully designed aviary’s interior features perches, trees, plants, Buddha statues, heat lamps, lighting, toys and a large feeding trench. The melodious chanting of mantras permeates the air, bringing blessings to the birds and other living beings within the aviary.

The next stop, Wisdom Hall is another must-see – a showcase of how recycled materials can be used for building. The focus of attention within Wisdom Hall is a magnificent 13ft Buddha Shakyamuni statue, blessing the space within which is normally used for classes, activities and meditation.

The power of meditation is to be infused with a sense of concentration

The Rotarians and Rotaractors watch a video about "Creating Conscious Communities" at the lounge in Dukkar Apartments

The group ended their visit with a light refreshment in the Lounge at Dukkar Apartment together with a short introduction video about Kechara Forest Retreat and the vision of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.
