Kechara is growing – again! If you have been coming to recent events at Kechara, you will have noticed that our gompa is full to bursting point. At Wesak Day 2010, we had over 300 people in our gompa, affectionately known as Kechara House 1. Even in Kechara House 2, pujas and activities often overlap and every spare corner is occupied.
In view of our continuous growth, Kechara House (KH) is now expanding to four shoplots in SunwayMas Commercial Centre. This will allow more and more people to attend our events and participate in activities to gain deep peace of mind and inner happiness.
Through the generosity of sponsors who have donated the four shoplots to KH worth over RM4 million, we are now fund-raising for its renovation, which is estimated at RM2 million.
Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK), which distributes food to the homeless and urban poor, has itself been ‘homeless’ for the past four years. After the stepping forward of kind sponsors, KSK finally acquired its permanent premises off Jalan Imbi and is now fund-raising for renovations and maintenance of these premises, where it can serve more of the needy.

Highlights of the dinner will be:

· An auction of stunning items. The main feature is a set of beautifully carved gold painted 3-ft antique wooden sculptures of the 18 Arhats, donated by fashion couturier Melvin Lam. The estimated value of the statues is RM380,000. These statues, which will be placed in Kechara World Peace Centre, are up for sponsorship. The names of the sponsors and donors will be engraved on plaques and displayed. Other items on offer are:
