TV1 News on the Opening of Kechara Soup Kitchen

On 28 March 2011, Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) officially opened their facilities and to grace the occasion, Malaysian Prime Minister’s wife Her Excellency the First Lady of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived and did the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and signed the plaque for the official opening. Along with her, there were many other distinguished guests in attendance such as the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, and the Chairman of Tourism Datuk Dr Victor Wee, and many other distinguished friends and guests are at our opening ceremony.

We at Kechara House humbly thank the first Lady and our Government’s support and blessings.

Kechara Soup Kitchen is ready to go, ready to grow and ready to serve the community at large. Hunger Knows No Barriers!

  1. When people are down and out, and living on the streets. they need more than food. the homeless need a chance to get back on their feet and be independent and have their own self esteem. The sick needs medical care, medications and sometimes hospitalised. Peope like Jit who has been living out on the streets for 3 years and who has relatives needs to be reunited with her family. KSK has done just thatand helped to get another homeless off the street to be reunited with her family. So KSK does not just feed the homeless but also provide abovementioned serviices with the main aim to get them off the streets and help them to get back into the mainstream of society.
