The making of “World Peace”

The energetic team at Kechara Media & Publications sure are hard at work! Just as their newest title, Gurus for Hire, Enlightenment for Sale arrived on Friday morning, KMP English Chief Editor, Jamie “Paris” Khoo, was already off to supervise the a photo shoot for their next, upcoming book, World Peace in Your Backyard.

Working closely with the highly-respected and established photographer, Jim Liaw and his associates Ning Ang and Braendon Yong, KMP had conceptualised using black and white portraits for their new series of books.

For this first book of the series, KMP engaged Justin Ripley (a long-time student of Rinpoche and newly recruited e-division staff) as their model. With his gorgeous profile, stunning dreadlocks and bold tattoos, Justin was the perfect portrait for their new book.

Jim, our photographer for the day, was trained in the UK, where he spent many years perfecting his art before returning to KL, where he now specialises in wedding photography and portraits. He has spent an exceptional amount of time with the Kechara organisation, sharing plenty of his creative ideas with us to bring Rinpoche’s teachings and the organisation’s work alive. This latest collaboration with Jim looks to be yet another gorgeous masterpiece.

There’s lots of pictures of the photo session in action below, but for the final shot that made it for the cover, you’ll have to wait for the book!

World Peace in Your Backyard is now entering its design phase and is set to be launched in May 2009.
