A wisdom camp

There were many busy evenings at the Kechara Media & Publications (KMP) office last week, when KMP organised a mini transcribing “camp”. Many volunteers came by to contribute their time (and all their concentration) to transcribing His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings on YouTube. Now that there are literally hundreds of teachings online, we needed to revisit all those which have not yet been transcribed and archived.

Jason Tan hard at work!

When these teachings have been archived, they will be edited in future for books or as an integral part of developing Kechara’s education programme and Lamrim classes. Thanks to the hardworking volunteers, we’re now happily and steadily working through the remaining teachings.

Halfway through the week, even Rinpoche heard about the buzz in our conference room, where all the volunteers and KMP crew were working, and sent over huge containers of food, in appreciation of everyone’s hard work. With that extra fuel and all that energy in the room, the volunteers worked right through the evening even though they’d each already worked a long day at their day jobs.

So here’s a big shout out to Jason Tan (Senior Editor Jamie Khoo’s cousin – looks like it’s in their blood to work with words!), Jasmine and Jacey Hoi, Rachel Phang, Doreen Teoh, Lee Lin Mun, Jamie Puon and Nancy Ng. Thanks for lending your time to bring wisdom to the world and we hope you’ll be back soon!

Now that KMP have moved to its new office, there is plenty of space for volunteers to come by and join in the many exciting works they have going on. You have a special chance of getting up close and personal with Rinpoche’s teachings and, with our well-stocked pantry, cool Dharma movies and chill-out DHI room, there’ll never be a dull moment once you step into the office!

A well-deserved pizza break!

KMP is opening its doors to all volunteers twice a week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7pm to 12am, to join in transcribing and get a sneak peek of what really goes on in a publishing house! We also need help with proofreading, editing and writing, if you’re up for it! (These regular volunteer sessions begin on 29 March, as we will be busy this coming week with the prayer festivals being organised in Kechara House). To join any of the volunteer session or if you would like more information, please contact us by calling +603 7805 5691.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
