Melissa Does A Retreat!

Daughter of one of the Green Team members, Melissa has grown up being surrounded by the Dharma since she was a young child.

After attending numerous teachings delivered by both H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and the Kechara Pastors, Melissa has now taken on the commitment of teaching the weekly Sunday Dharma classes to 14-16 years old.

Currently in her first year of university, Melissa took the time out during her semester break to embark on a 2-day Lama Tsongkhapa retreat. She has successfully completed 10,000 Migtzema mantras, fulfilling her annual commitment made to His Eminence of 20,000 mantras.

Lama Tsongkhapa’s retreat is highly effective in pacifying our negativity and obstacles, increasing our lifespan, merit, compassion, and the seven types of wisdom. To read more, click here. Well, at the beginning of the retreat I found it difficult to concentrate, but gradually I felt more motivated after every session. Especially when I have reached the target I have set at each session. The environment in KFR really helped me concentrate on what I have to do and minimized any distractions that would easily be found in the city, like car noises or people talking. On breaks, I took walks around KFR and it helped me refresh myself before getting back to my retreat. Refreshing myself was important so that I can do my retreat more efficiently without feeling too cooped up, as I was doing my retreat in a small room. In short the greenery made conducive for me to do what I needed to do. When everything was completed, I felt happy and accomplished. It gave me a sudden uplifting feeling afterwards too.
