Herb Garden by Pastor Chia

At Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR), every aspect of the land is in line with our motto “creating conscious communities“. This includes recycling, using naturally-sourced river water for irrigation, and using natural lighting for our buildings.

Located behind Wisdom Hall, is the Herb Garden grown under 3 structures which have been dubbed as open green houses. Within these 3 structures are a myriad of herbs and plants.

As one of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche‘s most senior students, Pastor Chia has always had a personal interest in herbs. However, it was only in 2013 when His Eminence instructed for Pastor Chia to be part of the Green Team that Pastor Chia pursued his passion whole-heartedly. Apart from overseeing the other green-related aspects of KFR, the Herb Garden has been a pet project of Pastor Chia.

Pastor Chia grows the herbs and plants in soil using our own compost and compost tea. Using this technique, it ensures that the plants receives the right balance of micro-organisms in order to create healthy, vibrant plants. Many visitors have visited the herb garden requesting for shoots or seeds to be replanted back in the city!

As we strongly believe in healing ourselves through a holistic approach, we sincerely hope that in the near future many will be healed through the herbs grown here.

If you’re here for a tour of KFR or attending a Dorje Shugden Open Day, do not miss visiting the Herb Garden. The next Dorje Shugden Open Day is on the 12th September 2015 (Saturday).
