It was indeed a special day on the 24 October 2013, as not only was it His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s birthday but it was also the first ever wedding blessing ceremony to be held at Wisdom Hall in Kechara Forest Retreat.

Wedding guests started the day with light refreshments at the Dukkar Apartments guest area, followed by a quick trip to the Wisdom Hall Souvenir Shop and the opportunity to offer candles to the magnificent Tsongkhapa statue. The ceremony began after all guests were seated and Edwin led Elaine down the aisle to the space in front of His Eminence’s throne, after which Pastor Chia began the ceremony.

Edwin’s proud parents, Dato’ & Datin Wira Eric Tan attended the blessing ceremony together with Edwin’s grandparents. It was a double celebration for Dato’ Wira Eric Tan, as earlier that day he had received the Dato’ Wira title from the Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Malacca!

Pastor Chia led the ceremony by blessing the wedding rings and leading the couple in reciting their wedding vows, as composed by His Eminence. After the exchange of rings, the newlywed couple made offerings to His Eminence’s throne and made light offerings in the form of candles to the towering Buddha Shakyamuni. Pastor Chia then led the couple and all the guests in a dedication. A photo session and dinner at Dukkar Apartments ensued.

What a wonderfully auspicious day it was – His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s birthday, the day that Dato’ Wira Eric Tan was granted his title and the day that Edwin and Elaine Tan had their wedding blessed by Pastor Chia, as empowered to do so by His Eminence. We wish Edwin and Elaine good fortune and blessings as they begin their lives as a married couple!
