Invitation to Lama Tsongkhapa Day at Kechara Forest Retreat

Kechara will be celebrating Tsongkhapa Day on Sunday 8th December at the Kechara Forest Retreat, Bentong and you are cordially invited to join us for this celebration. Renowned as the Second Buddha of our fortunate eon and the founder of the Gelug lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Lama Tsongkhapa ushered in a renaissance within Buddhism as it was practiced in Tibet. Lama Tsongkhapa also performed many great deeds; among them are the building of Gaden Monastery and the composition of the Lamrim Chenmo, also known as “The Great Exposition of the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment”.

Lama Tsongkhapa Day commemorates Lama Tsongkhapa’s attainment of enlightenment. It is also known as the Butter Lamp Festival and falls on the 25th day of the 10th lunar month according to the Tibetan calendar. Making offerings and sincere prayers on this most auspicious day enhances one’s merit and strengthens the quality of one’s own spiritual practice.

The celebrations this year begin in the morning with a mediation session, followed by a Lama Chopa Puja, which is a prayer that invokes the blessing of all the lineage masters stemming from Buddha Shakyamuni, through the great Lama Tsongkhapa until our own guru, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. This prayer clears obstacles to our spiritual path and blesses us to be successful in our endeavours.

Following this, everyone will have the chance to make light offerings to the magnificent Lama Tsongkhapa statue outside the Wisdom Hall. Dukkar Apartments will be open for a Pot Luck lunch and a performance by children attending our Sunday Dharma School, showing their choral achievements this year.

To register your attendance, please provide us with your name and car plate number by contacting us at +603 7803 3908, [email protected] or in person at Kechara House.
