On Friday 8 November Dato’ Ruby Khong and Pastor Adeline Woon, both members of Kechara’s Board of Directors, visited our fellow dharma brothers and sisters at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA). The purpose of the visit was to foster a closer relationship as the aims of Kechara and SJBA are the same, to promote the understanding of Buddhism and its practice in daily life to benefit ourselves and others.

Dato’ Ruby had arranged the meeting with her friend Bro Chim, the President of SJBA. Once there, both Dato’ Ruby and Pastor Adeline were greeted by Mr. Chim and the SJBA committee and taken on a tour of SJBA’s buildings and facilities. After this Dato’ Ruby shared with them the progress and future planning of the Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR), our retreat centre in Bentong, Chamang, after which there was also an exchange of some gifts.

Mr. Chim had visited Kechara House during His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s Birthday celebrations in 2011, which included the 1st Buddhist Pastorship Ordination. He relayed to his staff that Kechara’s facilities, friendly staff and organisation had impressed him.

Pastor Adeline also wanted to exchange ideas and experiences in regards to teaching Dharma classes. Both Kechara and SJBA Dharma classes have the same goal, educating people to be able to understand and practice the Buddha’s teachings. Dato’ Ruby invited the SJBA committee to visit KFR, to which they all said that they would. This is surely not the last instance these two great institutions meet and discuss their common goals.
