A productive weekend in Ipoh

This past weekend in Ipoh was a productive one, with many activities going on for our members. We began in the morning with our monthly recycling programme before kickstarting our study group’s first animal liberation event (which was covered by Kwong Wah Yit Poh newspaper!). 12 people released 30 birds from the rooftop of our study group building, into the beautiful city of Ipoh.

It is hoped that by initiating this activity, our group will inspire many people to opt for a vegetarian lifestyle and be mindful that animals are sentient beings who cannot talk back…so it is all the more reason why we should treat them well, because they cannot tell us when they are in pain. Likewise, because they cannot thank us when we alleviate their suffering, by showing them kindness without an agenda, we learn to develop altruistic compassion.

Eric wound down the day with a sharing from His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s book PEACE.

Join us at our next event! Watch this space for more information, or get in touch with Wan Wai Meng at +6012 215 0968, our friendly coordinator!
