Two trainings had been conducted on 20 Dec and 27 Dec 2014 respectively for the new teachers in preparation for 2015 Kechara Sunday Dharma School (KSDS) that will commence on 11 Jan 2015. A total of 18 existing and new teachers were recruited for 2015 KSDS as the classes have been expanded to cater for the increasing numbers of students.

The first part of the training “Breaking the Ice”. The teachers were asked to draw a picture of what was on their mind and shared it with fellow teachers. From the exercise, the teachers learnt that everyone, adults or children, do behave differently. It is important to accept everyone just the way they are and not to make judgment or assumption of others. Respect and communicate with children of all ages is the key to gaining their trust for effective learning to take place.

In the second session: “Share Your Talent”, every teacher had the chance to show everyone their hidden talent. The teachers discovered the rare side of their fellow teachers, as many of the teachers can sing, dance, draw or perform really well. The teachers were at awe with each other at the end of the session.

In one of the exercises, the teachers were blind-folded and were led to walk from 1 location to another location. Retrospectively, many of the teachers felt that they had learnt to trust and to have faith. The teachers discussed that having faith meant having faith in His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s teachings. It also meant that as teachers, patience, care and faith will lead an uncooperative or moody child to learn something new eventually.

By the end of the training, the teachers were enthusiastic and look forward to the beginning of 2015 KSDS with boundless energy.
