It serves as a roadmap to Buddhahood by defining the Buddhist path as the three scopes of a practitioner — small\, medium\, and great. Hence\, it is often translated as the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. It was originally composed in verse form by the Indian master Atisha\, titled Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment. Later\, it was elaborated by Manjunath Lama Tsongkhapa in his seminal work Lamrim Chenmo\, which was fleshed out from various scriptural sources. Lama Tsongkhapa would later go on to compose varying lengths of lamrims. Lama Tsongkhapa composed three major lamrim texts — the extensive Great Exposition of the Path to Enlightenment or Lamrim Chenmo mentioned earlier\, a medium-length version known as the Middling Exposition of the Stages of the Path\, and a shorter exposition named Songs of Lamrim Realisations. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nAny teachings or practices given by Lama Tsongkhapa will lead to quicker realisations.\n– Tsem Rinpoche – \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Songs of Lamrim Realisations \n \n \n \n The Songs of Lamrim Realisations is also known as ‘Song of Spiritual Experience’ or ‘Destiny Fulfilled.’ Called Lamrim Nyam Gur in Tibetan\, it is a famous 45-verse text that condenses the entire Lamrim into a profound song whose contents are renowned to be based on Lama Tsongkhapa’s personal meditative experience on the Lamrim. The work is composed in a style similar to the poetic songs characteristic of the Vajrayana Buddhist tantric movement of India and Tibet. This tradition first arose in India when Buddhist mahasiddhas would spontaneously compose such songs as a means to convey teachings derived from realisations. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Author \n \n \n \n The author of the text\, Lama Tsongkhapa\, was a famous Tibetan Buddhist master\, scholar and tantric yogi. His activities — and those of his disciples — led to the formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. In his teachings and writings\, Lama Tsongkhapa placed great emphasis on the importance of philosophical reasoning as a basis on the path to enlightenment. As a writer\, he was prolific\, composing over 300 written works that are collected into 18 volumes. The majority of his works are on tantra but the most popular are on the subject of Lamrim. He was renowned for having innumerable visions of Manjushri and is said to have received many clarifications and teachings directly. Therefore\, his knowledge\, realisations\, teachings and writings are either directly transmitted or blessed by the Buddha of Wisdom. Many lamas and practitioners regard him to be a direct emanation of the Bodhisattva Manjushri himself. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Speaker \n \n \n \n Geshe Cheme Tsering was born in Lhodrag\, southern Tibet\, in 1958. Growing up in India\, he attended the Central School for Tibetans in Shimla\, H.P. and continued his studies at the Central Institute of Tibetan Higher Studies at Sarnath\, Varanasi and Nyingmapa Lamas College at Tibetan Colony\, Clement Town\, U.P. He entered Gaden Shartse Monastery in 1978 as a residence student of Zemey Labrang\, received Geshe Lharampa recognition in 1996 after 15 years of intensive study\, and was invited in 2008 to fill the post of main translator at Trijang Buddhist Institute in Vermont\, USA for His Holiness Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche. During his tenure\, he has given numerous teachings on important parts of Lamrim. His translations include A Play of Magical Illusion\, the autobiography of Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche (1901-1981; Edition Rabten\, 2022); the biography of Tri Jangchub Chophel (1756-1838)\, the first Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche; and the extended biography of Geshe Rabten Rinpoche (1921-1986).

This series of precious talks will be conducted by Venerable Geshe Cheme Tsering\, a highly qualified Buddhist scholar. Talks are open to all Kechara members. A grounding in the Lamrim is recommended. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Event Details \n \n \n \n Part 1 – Nov 1 (Sun)Part 2 – Nov 7 (Sat)Part 3 – Nov 8 (Sun)6.00 pm – 8.30 pmKechara Forest Retreat\, BentongFree admission\, please RSVP here. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Lamrim Tradition \n \n \n \n The Lamrim is a genre of Dharma that encompasses all of Buddha’s teachings in a step-by-step pathway towards complete enlightenment.
