A gift and blessing for Eric Choong

It’s not every day you catch a man into a sparkly dress and high heels. It’s also not every day that your Lama will come to support you dancing around in a sparkly dress and high heels!

Rinpoche shares a Dharma teaching with all at KSA

H.E. Tsem Rinpoche paid a surprise visit to Kechara Saraswati Arts last night, where a gathering of energetic, fun – perhaps a little strange! – people were practising for the big centre-stage performances at Kechara’s upcoming Karaoke fundraising party.

Our star performers were up for a surprise treat! Rinpoche had heard that the group was doing a rehearsal and came to the art department to share a short but very inspiring Dharma talk with them and give everyone there a little surprise gift, as a reward for all their hard work.

During the teaching, Rinpoche shared the incredible benefit and importance of working in the Dharma, committing to our spiritual practice and pushing ourselves that extra mile to promote the growth of Lama Tsongkhapa’s teachings.

Rinpoche explained the significance of all 12 Kechara departments. Rinpoche stressed that though the work seems to be worldly on an external level, it is eventually about bringing benefit to the individual who works there. Pushing ourselves and applying effort to our Dharma work will help us to develop positive transformation of the mind that helps us achieve much greater happiness and peace.

It was an evening full of laughs, made up of that perfect blend between silliness and spirituality

“I am very proud of you,” Rinpoche told everyone there, “All of you have a good heart and you are here, from your heart, to help raise funds for Kechara. Everyone is here from different departments – Kechara Oasis, Kechara Soup Kitchen, Kechara Saraswati Arts – and working together from their hearts.”

After much teasing of the “girls” in their bling-bling dress rehearsal get-up, Rinpoche also shared how happy he was that everyone in Kechara was able to “be themselves and be spiritual at the same time.”

Rinpoche looks disbelievingly at the two dreamgirls… “My, what beautiful legs you have, Peter.”“My, what lovely eyes you have, David.”

Rinpoche then recited a short prayer before introducing to everyone there the brand new Setrap chakra, the first in Kechara’s history! This first batch was just made in Nepal and then brought down to Gaden Monastery in South India to be consecrated at a large Setrap puja with 50 monks.

This was the first time that Rinpoche was “debuting” the chakras and the first time that he was giving them away. As the people there at KSA were working very hard in preparation for the karaoke fundraiser, Rinpoche wanted to reward their efforts and dedication.

After a jolly, crazy photo session – with dream girls, sequins, high heels and all – Rinpoche took a quick tour of the art studio before heading off, leaving the “girls” to get on with the show.

All smiles, spirituality and our very own celebrity stars!
