Bling Up the Buddhas!

How do you spend your free time? Sipping a latte in some painfully hip-for-the-moment café? Endlessly trawling the boutiques of KL? Mindlessly escaping at the movies?

For two wonderful, very dedicated ladies, they’ve been doing quite the opposite for many weeks on end. In fact, for many, many late nights, both Datin Ng Wee Chin (Honorary Liaison, Kechara House President, and member of the Tsem Kachö Ling Exco) and Patsy Lee (Kechara Saraswati Arts volunteer) have been hard at work beautifying Buddha statues.

How, you might ask, can an already-beautiful Buddha statue be made even more amazing?

By painstakingly sticking individual Swarovski crystals all over their sacred bodies! Yes, one by one, all over three-foot statues!

As with everything Kechara members do, these ladies’ actions over the last few weeks holds a deeper meaning. Offering jewels to the Three Jewels and onto altars, symbolises the practitioner’s wish to gain the real jewels. These are the Six Paramitas of generosity, ethics, patience, joyous effort, concentration and wisdom.

Check out these photos from the last few weeks, of the two ladies working hard to bling up the Buddhas!

And if you want to beautify your own Buddha statue but haven’t got the time or patience to do it yourself, Kechara Saraswati Arts is just a phone call away!
