Three More Kechara Pastors Ordained!

3 May 2015 was a special day for the Kechara Organisation as we celebrated Wesak Day celebration as well as our 6th Pastorship Ordination Ceremony at Kechara House.

Wesak Day is the threefold celebration commemorating the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing into Parinirvana. The full moon day of the Visakha month was chosen by the Buddha to manifest these attainments in order to bless all who believe in him with inspiration on the path towards enlightenment.

On this auspicious day, three new Buddhist pastors were ordained, one of whom has also requested for ordination as nun. In Kechara, pastorship is the first step on the path towards ordination.

This year’s Pastor Ordination Ceremony was conducted by Pastor Kok Yek Yee as authorised and empowered by our Founder and Spiritual Advisor, H.E. Tsem Rinpoche.

The ordination of Buddhist pastors was conceptualized by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in order to bridge the gap between the ordained Sangha of monks and nuns, and lay people. Empowered through the blessings of His Eminence, pastors are lay persons committed to sharing the Buddha’s teachings, also known as the Dharma.

The new pastors are:

  1. Pastor Ng Kok Heng
  2. Pastor Patsy Gooi
  3. Pastor Antoinette Kass (sangha-to-be)

We congratulate the new pastors and wish them well in serving others and spreading the dharma.
