Celebrating Wesak Day with Kechara

Kechara will be celebrating Wesak Day on 3 May 2015 (Sunday), and you are cordially invited to join us in Kechara House for this auspicious celebration.

Wesak is the threefold celebration commemorating the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing into Parinirvana. The full moon day of the Visakha month was chosen by the Buddha to manifest these attainments in order to bless all who believe in him with inspiration on the path towards enlightenment.

On this auspicious day, remembering the kindness of the Buddha, Kechara has lined up many exciting activities for the accumulation of merits in dedication to our friends and family. Join us in prayer and in making offerings for the people we love.

This year’s celebrations begin in the morning with animal liberation, and then a children’s baptismal, followed by a Lama Chopa Puja, which invokes the blessings of all the lineage masters stemming from Buddha Shakyamuni, through the great Lama Tsongkhapa until our own guru, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche. This prayer clears obstacles to our spiritual path and blesses us to be successful in our endeavours.

In the evening, we will also be holding a Buddhist Pastor Ordination. Kechara’s pastors are special people who have chosen to dedicate their lives towards their spiritual journey, bridging the gap between the lay practitioner and a fully ordained person. Conceptualised by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, pastors are empowered to give blessings, perform rituals, confer teachings, and provide spiritual guidance and counselling.
