A day of giving

Kechara House will be celebrating Wesak Fair on 7 May 2011. From 9am to 9pm (yes, all day long!), there will be plenty of activities available for the whole family. From items for sale, to tasty vegetarian food to savour as well as game stalls and creative crafts for kids…we will again also have our most-loved magic show master, as well as the Face Changing Performance and capoeira dance to entertain you!

Whilst the kiddies are busy connecting with the Dharma in a fun way, adults will have the chance to make merits by bathing Yellow Dzambala, the Buddha of Wealth. By offering candles, flowers and pearls to the Buddha, create blessings for yourself and your loved ones for years to come.

Kechara is expecting some 500 guests to visit and have fun during the whole day fair so we hope to count you in!

Wesak Day is a day for celebration, to commemorate the birth, Enlightenment and achievement of nirvana of Lord Buddha. It is one of the most important festivals for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, as it is a day about bringing happiness to others.

Being a day about bringing happiness to others, the celebration of Wesak is also a day of giving…so please give your support!

“We need sponsors for vegetarian food, used items such as DVDs and children clothes, new slippers, potted plants and some dry groceries such as detergents, canned drinks, and instant noodles,” requested May Ong, organiser of the Kechara Wesak Fair.

May also expressed her urgent need for volunteers, saying, “You can also give us your time, by volunteering at the Fair to man the 20-odd stalls we will have all set up. For those who are interested in volunteering, they can choose between two sessions. There is the 9am to 3pm slot, and the 3pm to 9pm slot.”
