A stroll down memory lane

8 April 2011 - 1:50pm Comments Off

The concert The Moon Speaks for My Heart, which pays tribute to Teresa Teng, has taken a year to prepare and features the sopranos Tan Soo Suan, Chang Fang Chyi and Evelyn Toh singing memorable Teresa Teng songs to Malaysians.

“It is of a bigger production compared to the September Tale which featured Teresa Teng’s songs in 2005. This time round, we have three singers, four back stage singers and six dancers, compared to a solo singer back in 2005,” said music director and producer Khor Seng Chew.

This concert is proudly produced by the established Dama Orchestra, which has so far produced 27 music works. The group is led by their director Khor, who is also the resident producer of Dama Orchestra’s musical productions.

Dama Orchestra is well-known for their exquisite blending of Western and traditional Chinese musical instruments in their performances. The musicians made their debut in the Malaysian performing arts scene with their sold-out concert An Evening of Chinese Chamber Music in Kuala Lumpur in 1994.

Singer Tan Soo Suan was awarded the National Grand Champion of Classical Singing in Malaysia in 1998, after having won the competition for three consecutive years. Evelyn Toh and Chang Fang Chyi are both talented Malaysian singers and accomplished performers. Chang performed in Dama Orchestra’s production I Have a Date with the Spring in 2009.

Kechara House alongside Dama Orchestra presents you with musical magic on 21 May 2011. Proceeds of the ticket sales will be donated towards the operation costs of the Kechara House gompa (prayer hall).
