The Kuantan study group first began to take shape in 2010, when some of the current members were introduced to Kechara by Aw Wei Ling. Excited by what they saw, a small group of them began travelling to Kuala Lumpur to participate in activities organised by Kechara House in Kuala Lumpur. They were also fortunate enough to attend H.E. Tsem Rinpoche‘s teachings that same year, on three separate occasions.

Finding H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s talks very inspiring, the group were moved to begin their own small chapel in June 2010. Located in one of their member’s offices, after three months of renovations, the group celebrated the official opening of their chapel with the invitation of Lama Tsongkhapa to their altar.

The Kuantan study group may be small, and they may be new but they are also one of Kechara’s most active study groups. Sundays are a busy time of the week for them, when the group’s members gather for children’s classes, guitar lessons, Chinese Protector pujas, and Simplified Lamrim classes.

The group’s progress is being overseen by Pastor Kok Yek Yee, along with the group’s committee of Leonard Chia, Wong Suet Moi, Yeo Kwai Gin, Aw Wei Ling and Lim Chin San.
