The Gallery

The Kechara Care Gallery is located next to the Kechara Care Lounge and a few blocks away from the Kechara House Gompa. It is a place where visitors can become better acquainted with His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s life and the Kechara organisation.

At the main entrance, visitors to the Gallery are greeted by a quote from Buddha Vajradhara alongside Rinpoche’s picture. They are then taken on a journey of Tibetan Buddhism, as they learn about Rinpoche and how he eventually came to be in Malaysia.

The tour starts at the very beginning, when Rinpoche was growing up with foster parents in Taiwan before moving on to his abusive childhood as a young boy in America. At this stage of the tour, visitors will learn how difficult circumstances forced Rinpoche to run away, and how he hitchhiked in pursuit of his dream to learn the Dharma. It was at the end of this trek that he met the guru who would change his life forever.

The Gallery showcases many of Rinpoche’s rare personal belongings, including childhood drawings and holy statues. Exclusive precious photos showcase Rinpoche’s struggle to learn the Dharma, first in the United States and then in India, before finally bringing it to Malaysia.

The second part of the gallery showcases Kechara’s growth since 2000, the result of Rinpoche’s precious guidance. Alongside each photograph is a precise description, with a preview of items from each of the 13 departments to give an overview of the organisation. Appropriately, the tour ends with a room dedicated to Rinpoche’s vision – Kechara World Peace Centre. Peaceful and serene, it gives visitors a glimpse into Kechara’s future.
