Movie screening: Seven Years in Tibet

Kechara Care Lounge’s movie night returns this Friday with a screening of Seven Years in Tibet starring heartthrobs Brad Pitt and David Thewlis.

This highly acclaimed movie tells the story of a group of mountaineers climbing Nanga Parbat in British India when World War II breaks out, and how they were arrested and lodged in a prisoner-of-war camp. Later, a number of them succeeded in escaping, and two of them ended up in the holy city of Lhasa, banned to foreigners due to an ominous prophecy.

The two men began to contribute to Tibetan society, tutoring select high lamas in Western geography and building a cinema! In being in Lhasa, they were also exposed to Lord Buddha’s teachings so this is a totally must-watch movie! News has it that even Brad Pitt himself benefited and learned a lot during the filming.
