Many stories of people living on the streets do not usually have such a happy ending, but Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) and The Star have had the privilege of working together to create one such happy ending.
In our continued work to highlight the plight of the homeless, and thanks to the coverage and assistance given by Malaysia’s largest English daily, this meant that on 23 July 2010, a family was reunited after 25 years apart. Click the image below to read about how such a happy ending came about for Jit Kaur and her sister-in-law Anita Kaur. Please note that as the image is quite large (to ensure the text remains legible), it may take longer than usual to load.
Again, our thanks goes to The Star for their continued coverage of KSK’s events and activities, which led towards this happy reunion. We would also like to thank all our friends in the media whose publicity has helped KSK to grow to the level we are at now…850 packets of food each week!
But we want to grow bigger, and we want to help more people. As an NGO though, we can only do this with YOUR support! So help us! For further information on how you can join us in the fight against homelessness, contact our Project Director Chua Siong Woan at [email protected] or +6010 333 3260. With our new building and our ongoing regular activities, KSK’s financial resources are being stretched tight…we need all the help we can get, whether it’s with job offers, our wish list, or with donations of money, food or your time! Employment opportunities are also welcome, as most of our clients are willing and able to work…they just need YOU to give them a chance.
