Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) has not only made its presence felt in Kuala Lumpur but also up north in Penang. Led by Patsy Gooi and her family, KSK Penang has been in operation for more than a year.
With its new building under construction, KSK Penang will soon have a place just like the one in KL. Located at Halaman Ariffin, the new soup kitchen will soon be opened to serve free dinners to Penang’s homeless community.
In the article below, Patsy explains how KSK functions and the role it plays. Patsy notes that many of the homeless clients in Penang are trishaw drivers who are now too old to work, a characteristic which is a distinct contrast to the homeless clients served by KSK in Kuala Lumpur.
For further information on how you can join us in the fight against homelessness, contact our Project Director Chua Siong Woan ([email protected]; +6010 3333 260). With the expansion of our services, KSK’s financial resources are being stretched tight…we need all the help we can get, whether it’s with job offers, our wish list, or with donations of money, food or your time! Employment opportunities are also welcome, as most of our clients are willing and able to work…they just need YOU to give them a chance.
