KSK Indonesia – Food Distribution 10th February 2011

10 February 2011 - 1:03pm No Comments

Kechara Soup Kitchen Indonesia distributed approximately 130 rice packages to the homeless and urban poor in Karet Bivak area, Jakarta. This week’s round was joined by one volunteer, and food was sponsored by Angeline Natawidjaja, Dina Middin, Hengcky Hiwarno and Richard Ticoalu.

Food distribution started at 10:30am. Since most of the regular volunteers either had work, were at school or were not well, this week’s food distribution had only one volunteer, Nike Permatasari. However, everything went well since Valentina and her team received full cooperation from the clients.

The coordinators of these two locations assisted the team in the distribution effort, thus allowing Nike to take many pictures for the sponsors. The team was helped by Ms Onah at Karet Bivak Bridge and Purnomo’s mother at Karet Bivak Cemetery. Purnomo himself was ill so he could not help in the distribution effort as usual. KSK sends him our good wishes, and hopes that he will get well soon. We distributed a total of 122 rice packages at these two locations.

Kober Cemetery

The team ventured to new location this week, Kober Cemetery. The team learned about this place from one of the new students that Valentina and her friends are sponsoring, Astriyani. Her parents work as grave diggers at Kober Cemetery. Astryani’s mother volunteered to help Valentina and her team in this distribution effort. 29 rice packages were distributed at this location.

The distribution was completed in a very short time since there were many potential clients over there. Next week, the team will be distributing 53 rice packages and hopefully have a chance to obtain information about these potential clients.
