Midnight Rounds

Saturday 17th July 2010 @ 2130 hrs

46 volunteers distributed 475 packets of food tonight. Cyril and Michelle Yeoh came to help in packing but did not join the rounds.

We learnt that raids were conducted just before our distribution rounds. As a result, many of our regular clients were not around.

In Bangsar, we were shocked to learn that one of our regular female clients, Emumalai, was missing. Her son Muruga told us that his mother has been missing after she ran away from a hospital last week. Happily enough, one hour later, Emumalai was later found by another team in Jalan Gereja. Muruga was very happy and grateful.

In Petaling Jaya, our volunteer found a homeless man sleeping in the PJ State area after a tip-off from a member of public. He was suffering from a big ulcer on his right leg. We cleaned the ulcer and made an appointment to meet him again for further medical treatment.

Food distribution went smoothly without any untoward incidents.

Evening Rounds

Sunday 18th July 2010 @ 1630 hrs

25 volunteers distributed 381 packets of food this evening.

Uncle Ong of SS14 thanked our volunteers for the jacket that we gave him last week. As it has been rainy lately, especially in the evenings, the jacket has come in very handy. We gave him more clothes before we left, which brought a big smile to his face.

In SS2, Guna looked miserable but forced a smile when we gave him the packet of food. He was wearing what our volunteers gave him last week. He told us that it is very comfortable.

It rained throughout our distribution rounds but our clients waited patiently for their food despite the uncompromising weather. Food distribution went on smoothly as usual and ended at about 7pm without any untoward incidents.
