Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, represents the wisdom of all the Buddhas. His sword represents cutting away our ignorance and the negative states of mind which form the basis of our suffering.

His practice encourages us to develop wisdom on several levels. On an outer level, his practice develops wisdom for our daily activities in life. On an inner level, he helps us attain the wisdom to free ourselves from karmic bondages and our delusions and negative habituations.
