On 24 July 2011, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche was invited to grace the 63rd birthday celebrations of Venerable K. Sr Dhammaratana, Chief Monk of the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfields, Malaysia, as the representative of the Vajrayana tradition in Malaysia.

His Eminence offered a 3-foot Shakyamuni statue to Venerable (fondly known as ‘Chief’ to his devotees), and spoke about the importance of respecting those who hold vows, and of harmony between traditions and centres. His Eminence praised Chief for his courage in spreading the Dharma, despite all obstacles. The event concluded with a dana offering made by the laypeople to the over 70 sangha members from different traditions who had gathered for the event.
