The Kechara Group is a charitable organization that was established in Malaysia by a team of students of His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche in year 2000 to coordinate and consolidate their efforts in sharing the gems of wisdom of the Buddha through many diverse ways applicable to modern society.

The quest for success and wealth has led humanity to become so competitive and materialistic that personal physical well-being and worldly possessions have come to constitute the greatest good and highest value in life at the expense of others.  We have begun to look to possessions to bring us happiness.  We identify ourselves and others by what we wear, what we have and what brands we can afford.   We go through life contemplating that inner well-being depends on what we possess.  But the truth of the matter is that, whatever worldly success we have achieved still has not brought us the true happiness that we desire.  We have neglected to attend to our inner well-being, and that missing component is our spirituality.

We believe true spirituality transcends race, religion and creed.  By benefitting others and the society, we make the world a better place to live in.  The satisfaction that arises out of having lived our lives in the interest of others in addition to ourselves gives rise to true happiness.  With this in mind, Kechara has evolved into 13 departments, each an expression of spirituality that caters to the differing needs and dispositions of today’s spiritual seekers.

The latest venture by the Kechara Group and the most ambitious to date, is the establishment of the Kechara World Peace Centre, Kechara’s vision for the future.  Through the combined hard work, devotion and generosity of sponsors, members and friends, a 30-acre piece of land in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur has been acquired and ear-marked for the construction of what will be an Icon of World Peace.

The Kechara World Peace Centre will not only be an international spiritual retreat centre drawing thousands of spiritual tourists from all over the world but will endeavour to address social issues, animal welfare and provide care for the underprivileged and the infirm.  Situated amongst verdant green forests in the cool mountain environment, the eco-friendly spiritual landmark will feature the unique aesthetics of Himalayan architecture infused with Malaysian cultural elements.  Kechara World Peace Centre will establish itself as the new tourist hub and the foremost spiritual destination of the region.
