Last Sunday saw a very special class based on a recent teaching that His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche had given about Vajrayogini and her practice (which you can read about here on Rinpoche’s blog).

Led by Liaison Sharon Saw, the class introduced everyone to Vajrayogini and her sacred practice, and showed us how we can begin to create a profound connection to her now, even before we have received formal initiation.

First, Sharon presented an overview of Vajrayogini and the preliminary practices that we can already begin to do to create the causes to be connected to her. These include the following practices:

Holding vows and commitments.

Being honourable and have integrity.

Whatever work or practices you’ve been assigned, do it diligently and happily.

Developing contemplations on the good qualities of one’s lama again and again.

Never give up.

Practising the Eight Verses of Thought Transformation.

Making it a point to get along with everyone or as much as possible and be forgiving.

Studying Lam Rim, Wheel of Sharp Weapons, Bodhisattvacha-avatara by Shantideva, Lojong, 50 Verses of Guru Devotion by Ashvagosha.

Commit to one practice that is light and easy yet profound such as Tsongkapa Guru Yoga daily without fail.

Follow your Teacher loyally and all the way.

Sharon then shared an amazing audio teaching that Rinpoche has given about how the preliminary practices of Lama Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga leads us eventually to Vajrayogini’s practice. In this teaching, Rinpoche shared a powerful visualisation as to how the enlightened qualities of Lama Tsongkhapa transform and manifest into Vajrayogini’s body. Through this very vivid symbology, he explained how Lama Tsongkhapa and Vajrayogini are essentially the same…you can listen to it for yourself here!
