David Loh: Our newly appointed Umze!

19 February 2012 - 7:15pm No Comments

Congratulations to David Loh, who has recently received the blessings from H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche to be an Umze of Kechara’s pujas!

David has been a Puja Guide for many weekly pujas as well as special pujas by request since June 2011. This makes him highly qualified for the position of Umze. He brings to his appointment a passion and a commitment to pujas both in Tibetan and in English.

David has an MA in Music Therapy and a BA in Interior Architecture. He is a music teacher and therapist and currently operates a music academy in SunwayMas. He is also an Interior Consultant.

With a highly sensitive ear for music and rhythm, as is reflected in his qualification and career, and an ability to pick up swiftly and with ease the pronunciation of the Tibetan words in the pujas, he quickly gained mastery over the increasing wide range of pujas of the Gaden lineage that have been passed to Kechara from the Gaden Monastery.

David currently also holds the position of Puja Coordinator for all pujas. The Shabten Khang, the Puja House of Kechara, is basically the result of David’s tireless and creative endeavors.

We wish David well in his new appointment. We are very confident that with both David and Gim Lee as umzes, the Kechara Puja team will fly to new heights of professionalism in the performance of all pujas.
