We concluded our May Lamrim Recitation Retreat on 12 May 2012, and registered a total of 137 participants! Thank you to those who took time off to attend the retreat. Give yourselves a pat on the back!
For those who have no idea what we are on about, here is a brief introduction on what Lamrim Recitation Retreat is:
Upon the advice of our Spiritual Guru, H.E.Tsem Rinpoche, Kechara started the Lamrim Recitation Retreat in June 2011, which marked the beginning of our journey to reach a target of 8,000 recitations of the whole Lamrim text (i.e. each chapter of the text is to be recited 8,000 times).
This forms one of the practices unique to Kechara which will help anyone who participates increase their knowledge for their spiritual development. Reading the Lamrim is to discover one’s full potential as the Lamrim contains both basic and advanced teachings of the Buddha which we can apply to our everyday life, according to our own capacity.
The title itself, “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” literally means that this text is the step-by-step guide for us to attain ultimate liberation! Click here to know more about this scared Buddhist text.
The Lamrim Recitation Retreat started with a bang with our entry into Malaysian Book of Records in July 2011, in which we held a 24 hour Lamrim recitation marathon. We once again thank the 563 participants who made this a success!
Since then, Kechara has been organising Lamrim Recitation Retreats every month (click here for retreat dates and here for our 2012 programme), which lasts for a week each. We have so far completed 236 recitations of the whole Lamrim text.
That means 7,764 more to go! We need YOU to help us bring up the counts for the following Chapters in our next Retreat session which is from 11 June to 16 June 2012:
Chapter 6: The Seven Limbed Prayer; Requests to Lineage Lamas
Chapter 9: Devoting Yourself to a Spiritual Guide; The Optimum Human Rebirth
Chapter 11: The Sufferings of the Lower Realms
Chapter 12: Taking Refuge in the Three Jewels
Chapter 14: The General Sufferings of Samsara; The Sufferings of Higher Rebirths
Chapter 17: Developing Boddhichitta Through the Cause-and-Effect Instruction; The Seven Point Mind Training
The Lamrim Recitation Retreat is a easy, calming, educational and fun retreat to do. Join us in this meritorious journey to discover your spiritual potential! It is also a great way to spend time with your family and expand your mind.
