Experiencing the death of your loved one or witnessing the death of others can be one of the most profound, sometimes disturbing experiences in one’s life.
Especially in Eastern culture, death is something we pretend does not exist and avoid discussing. We know death is definite for every and each of us, but we live in denial. We deny that we are an exception, and deny that death could have happen to us at any moment.
The topic of death is not taboo in Buddhism; instead it has a lot to say about the role of death in human life and its true nature.
Death can be your best teacher. Only by facing death, those of loved ones and our own, can we be free from the fear of it and learn the meaning of life.
