Legend of the Conch Shell: The Screening!

7 April 2010 - 8:36pm No Comments

Kechara’s first ever stage play, Legend of the Conch Shell, performed four shows last December at the PJ Live Arts Theatre in Jaya One. Since then, the play has been nominated for an award in six categories at the 8th Annual BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. The nominations are for Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Choreographer in a Feature-Length Work, Best Costume Design and Best Music & Sound Design. Lee Swee Keong who played the role of Lama Tsongkhapa is also nominated for Best Featured Performer!

Kechara InMotion is organising a video screening for the stage play, to help raise funds for this rapidly-growing department…so if you loved the play, come and watch it again! And if you missed it, here’s your chance to watch it once again!

Legend of the Conch Shell brings a contemporary element to the history of the second Buddha, Lama Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelugpa tradition. Kechara InMotion have professionally edited this video to include perspectives from many angles, as well as Chinese and English subtitles. With a running time of one and a half hours, the play will be followed by a short video of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche’s speech on the day of the play’s premier.

There will be two sessions on 17 April (Saturday) at Kechara House 2, at 11am and 5pm with tickets selling at RM8 per entry. Everyone is welcome to attend, and wish the team good luck for the Arts Awards on 18 April!

For enquiries and tickets, please contact Jace Chong at +6012 288 8044. Hurry as spaces are limited to 50 seats per session!
