Stupas represent the Buddha’s Enlightened mind and are normally placed on our altars to the right of the Buddha image. Prayers and offerings can then be made directly to the Buddha’s mind and its enlightened qualities. Through our prayers, we create the cause to attain the same Enlightened mind and purify the negative karma of our mind.
