Correct understanding and implementation of Dharma teachings has given me much greater satisfaction and meaning in life.

Datin Ng Wee Chin, 50
Honorary Liaison to H.E. Tsem Rinpoche
President Kechara House Buddhist Association
Executive Committee Member
Kechara World Peace Centre

A practical and business-minded woman, it should come as no surprise that Datin Ng Wee Chin is the Executive Director of a Public Listed Company. A long-time supporter of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, Datin Ng is now the President of Kechara House Buddhist Association. Datin Ng’s continued support has been instrumental in the tremendous growth of Kechara, expanding from a single building to the flourishing Buddhist organisation that it is today.

So Datin Ng, Executive Director of a Public Listed Company, impressive! What was your life like before you came to Kechara?

Life before Kechara was different, to say the least. With my position as Executive Director and my four growing children, I think I had a very materialistic attitude and was caught up in a materialistic lifestyle. I felt that money could buy whatever was needed to be happy. In essence, I was blinded by worldly attachments.

And after Dharma? When did it come into your life?

I started on my spiritual path five years ago, when I first met H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. I believe that when someone is ready, by their karmic affinity, they will meet the holy Dharma. Happily for me, it just happened to be my time to meet my Guru five years ago.

Having been in Dharma for five years, what impact has it had on your life?

Dharma has brought peace to my mind. I find that correct understanding and implementation of Dharma teachings has given me much greater satisfaction and meaning in life. Whereas my greatest aspiration was previously material in nature, now it is to support Rinpoche and help him to accomplish the manifestation of Kechara World Peace Centre.

It is good to hear that Dharma has had such a positive impact on your life and aspirations! What role do you feel spirituality has in helping you to achieve your aspirations?

The biggest role! If we keep our commitments and surrender our minds completely to our Guru, we will create the causes for us to achieve our aspirations. How? Total conviction will generate immeasurable merits for our Guru, Yidam and Dharma Protector to bestow tremendous blessings upon us and avert any obstacles in achieving our goals.

You mentioned that your aspiration is to help Rinpoche accomplish the manifestation of Kechara World Peace Centre (KWPC)? What role do you see yourself having in its manifestation?

I am involved in the KWPC project as an executive committee member. I have committed myself to pushing all the way for TKL to become a great institution. KWPC will produce many great Dharma teachers, bring Je Tsongkhapa’s sacred teachings to many and help them to attain lasting happiness.
