It inspires me how caring Rinpoche is. Rinpoche takes the trouble to give recognition to and show appreciation for every little effort and contribution each person makes within Kechara, which is something worth emulating.
Judy Lam, 47
Administrator
Kechara Media & Publications
Kechara Media & Publications (KMP) would be a very different place without the administrative talents of Judy Lam. Trained as a secretary, Judy has worked for and with the top management of different industries. She now brings her knowledge of administrative functions to Dharma. At KMP, Judy is responsible for the smooth running of day-to-day operations, thus expediting the spreading of H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s teachings to the world.
It must be quite different working in Kechara after being in a corporate environment for so long. What was life like before you came into Kechara, what were you doing?
Before I came into Kechara, I worked in a Japanese-Malaysian joint-venture manufacturing company as a secretary for 15 years. From there, I moved on to the field of Human Resources – in my last position before Kechara Media & Publications (KMP), I was a manager in a Human Resources and Administration Department.
You must be one of the few who joined Dharma work without hearing of the centre or of H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche first. How did you find Kechara?
It was a job advertisement that brought me to Kechara! KMP placed an advertisement for an Administrator, and I responded. I have always been interested in helping others and getting involved in social work. KMP seemed the perfect opportunity for me to apply my expertise and, at the same time, be of benefit to others.
What are your aspirations in life? Has joining Kechara had any impact on your aspirations?
My aspiration in life has never changed. It has always been to be happy and have inner peace… and I think ultimately, everyone shares that same aspiration. By opening up my mind to Dharma and putting it into practice in my daily life, I have been able to see things with a better perspective.
Since you joined Kechara, you’ve had the opportunity to meet Rinpoche on many occasions and receive teachings. What is it about Rinpoche that you like the most?
It inspires me how caring Rinpoche is. Rinpoche takes the trouble to give recognition to and show appreciation for every little effort and contribution each person makes within Kechara. I have often seen Rinpoche giving gifts of appreciation, hand-written cards and sometimes, just praises, which touches people’s hearts. That is really inspiring and something worth emulating.
So are you happy to be in sync with our future retreat centre, Kechara World Peace Centre (KWPC)? How do you feel about being in Kechara, and what role do you see yourself playing in the manifestation of KWPC?
I believe that every effort we make to share Rinpoche’s teachings with others will create a healthy growth for Kechara. On my part, I will do all that I can to help in the manifestation of TKL. I am glad to be a part of KMP – our goal is to embody Rinpoche’s teachings within ourselves and to share them to benefit others.
