Kechara holds an Animal Liberation event every first Sunday of the month at the Kepong Metropolitan Park, from 8.30 am to 9.30 am. We liberate live fish saved directly from the wholesalers… these are fish which would have been well on their way to people’s dining plates! This monthly activity is originally initiated by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche to teach his students to generate compassion towards all living beings.
Prior to release, the Medicine Buddha mantra and H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s name mantra are recited and blown over the animals to bless them. Each session ends with a recitation of Shantideva’s prayers, dedicated towards a good rebirth in their future lives. Reciting mantras plants the seeds of Dharma in the animals’ mind streams and will increase the likelihood that they take a higher rebirth, where they are more likely to come across the Dharma. This can be done for any animal, including our pets.
The act of liberating animals also helps us to develop the nature of not harming others, creating the awareness of not eating animals for the sake of attachment to meat, and thus promoting a vegetarian lifestyle. The act of protecting or saving lives is one of the causes for long life and good health.
As such it is encouraged for people who are seriously ill to sponsor the liberation of animals (who would have otherwise be killed) and dedicate the merits to their swift recovery. It is also auspicious to perform this activity on birthdays. Bring your friends, family members and children to participate in this meaningful monthly family affair!
Animal Liberation Itinerary
8.30am – 9.30am Meet at Kepong Metropolitan Park for Animal Liberation.
Please be punctual so as not to miss the prayer session, as we start the event right on time.
Did you know? At the very first animal liberation activity led by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, a rainbow was seen above the park, an auspicious sign that the local land deities were pleased a mind of compassion was in the area.
We rely on donations from kind sponsors to make this monthly animal liberation event a success. Hence we really appreciate the generosity of regular donations towards this meritorious activity.
Should you wish to join in our monthly activity, or would like us to arrange for a personal animal liberation session for special or urgent occasions, please contact Frederick Law at +6017 207 2077.
