In a true celebration of the old Chinese proverb “women hold up half the sky”, the Tribute to Women Awards aims to recognise and value the achievements of women in many fields. Winning the Golden Heart award was our very own President Dato’ Ruby Khong, who was there on 28 November 2010 to receive the award from our First Lady, Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.

It was not without some difficulty that our First Lady was able to present the award. After an extremely busy day in Ipoh, she flew back to Kuala Lumpur in a small plane, braving torrential rain to be able to attend the ceremony. It was a clear indication of how highly she values the awards, and all the recipients were very appreciative of the efforts our First Lady made.

Present on the night were Kechara Liaisons Datuk May Phng, Phng Li Kim, JP Thong, Ngeow Voon Chin, Henry Ooi and Paul Yap who came to show their support. In recognition of Dato’ Ruby’s achievements, many dignitaries also came to congratulate her, including His Excellency Mr Masahiko Horie (Ambassador of Japan), Her Excellency Maria Isabel Rendon (Ambassador of Argentina) and Her Excellency Lourdes Puma Puma (Ambassador of Ecuador).

It seems Dato’ Ruby is keeping good company – the previous recipient of this award was Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong, who is the patron of a great number of charities, and a tireless supporter for the medical and charitable communities.

Congratulations Dato’ Ruby, on receiving what is more than just an award, but also recognition of the valuable work that KSK is doing to help the homeless and forgotten of the Klang Valley!

One Response to Celebrating women

  1. Congratulations Dato’ Ruby! Well done. I am happy that the tireless work you do for Kechara has been recognised. I especially love to see women rewarded for the work they do, as so often it is hidden.
